This concerns Baramati
The Pandharpur Wari 2026 is moving forward. New safety measures are now in place for the walking devotees. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has scrapped the VIP darshan system at Pandharpur's Vitthal Rukmini Temple. He said the real VIPs are the Varkaris (वारकरी), the devoted 'माऊली' who walk for weeks amidst the 'विठ्ठलनामाचा गजर'. Now, everyone stands equal in the darshan queue.
Security and Sanitation Measures
Solapur Police are watching the crowds. They have deployed ideaForge Q6 V2 drones right above the pilgrimage routes. These drones will help manage traffic and speed up emergency responses. And sanitation is getting a boost too. The Coca-Cola India Foundation recently started its 'Maidaan Saaf' initiative. They are setting up clean resting spots and handling waste management for the Palkhis.
Route Updates and Tragic Accident in Pune
Meanwhile, the Sant Nivruttinath Maharaj Palkhi has finally left Trimbakeshwar. It is heading straight for Pandharpur. Officials expect heavy congestion. Devotees should watch local traffic advisories, as restrictions are live on the Pune-Pandharpur and Baramati routes until July 15.
Tragedy struck in Pune. Three pilgrims were killed and ten others suffered injuries when a truck rammed into their group. Authorities urge all Dindis to walk strictly within the designated safe lanes. Reflective gear is also a must during the early morning hours.
