The Maharashtra state government has announced major logistical and welfare updates for the upcoming Ashadhi Wari 2026 to ensure the safety and convenience of lakhs of Warkaris traveling to Pandharpur.
VIP Darshan Suspended
To prioritize ordinary devotees who walk hundreds of kilometers, all 'VIP' darshan passes have been completely suspended at the Shri Vitthal Rukmini Mandir starting from July 10, 2026, until the conclusion of the Ashadhi yatra. Authorities have also designated the immediate temple premises as a strict 'No-Vehicle Zone' to manage crowd flow and prevent bottlenecks during the peak days.
Vitthal Rukmini Warkari Yojana 2026
In a major welfare push, the government has officially rolled out the Vitthal Rukmini Warkari Yojana 2026. This new scheme provides registered Warkaris with critical financial assistance for accidental death, disability, and emergency medical treatment during the 250km pilgrimage.
With both the Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi and the Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi currently making their way toward Pandharpur, local administrations along the route have been directed to ensure adequate medical camps, clean drinking water, and mobile toilets are available at every major mukkam (halt).
