Rukmini Mata Adorned as Tulja Bhavani in Pandharpur for Navratri
Wari news · 14 Oct 2026
Pandharpur is alive with Navratri devotion. At the Shri Vitthal-Rukmini Mandir, priests have adorned Shri Rukmini Mata in the majestic form of Goddess Tulja Bhavani, draping the deity in traditional silk and rare antique gold. Thousands of pilgrims, particularly women from across the region, are arriving at the sanctum to witness this sacred festive avatar.
Traditional Gold Ornaments and Festive Decoration
The sacred ceremony followed strict temple custom. Shri Vitthal Rukmini Mandir Samiti leaders—Co-Chairman Gahininath Maharaj Ausekar, Executive Officer Shrikant Yadav, and Manager Pravinkumar Gham—personally supervised the adornment. Priests lovingly decorated Rukmini Mata with rare ancestral ornaments, including the golden crown, vakya pair, tode pair, tanvad earrings, red chinchpeti, javmani padak, barley bead garlands, lakshmi haar, mohar necklace, putalya garland, haikol, sari, and a sculpted gold waistbelt.
Lord Vitthal looked equally regal. Priests adorned the deity in sacred royal ornaments, from the gold crown and Kaustubh gem to a pearl plume, sandalwood naam, diamond bracelets, and pearl necklaces. Devotion echoed through every corner of the sanctum as local women's bhajan mandals offered continuous bhajan seva throughout the celebration.
Current Darshan Arrangements and Waiting Times
The grand Kartiki Wari is set for November 13, 2026. Until then, Pandharpur rests in a quiet lull. That means pilgrims can take darshan at their own pace without fighting the massive crowds of the main festival season.
- Padsparsha Darshan (Foot-Touching Queue): Devotees can offer their direct respects at the sacred feet of Shri Vitthal and bow before Rukmini Mata. During these Navratri days, the wait in the darshan mandap averages between 2 and 3 hours.
- Mukh Darshan (Sight Queue): Pilgrims who prefer a quicker view without foot-touching can take the mukh darshan line. The wait in this queue currently takes between 30 and 45 minutes.
Daily Aarti Schedule at Shri Vitthal Rukmini Mandir
Temple rituals follow a precise daily rhythm. Devotees hoping to attend can plan their visit around this regular schedule:
- Kakad Aarti: 4:30 AM to 5:00 AM
- Panchamrit Snan and Nitya Pooja: 5:00 AM to 6:00 AM
- Madhyanha (Afternoon) Pooja: 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM
- Dhup Aarti: 6:45 PM to 7:00 PM
- Shej Aarti: 11:00 PM (Temple sanctum closes for the night after Shej Aarti)
Guidelines for Visiting Pilgrims
Pilgrims visiting during Navratri can book slots for special pujas, such as Tulsi Archana and Abhishek, directly through the temple committee's online portal. Help is available on the ground. Dedicated counters operate near Namdev Payari to assist senior citizens and pilgrims with disabilities. Inside, the administration asks all Varkaris and visitors to keep orderly lines and leave mobile phones and cameras outside the sanctum.
