The Ashadhi Wari is in mourning today. A speeding truck rammed into a group of pilgrims in Pune district, killing three women Varkaris. Four others are badly hurt. They were walking towards Pandharpur, immersed in 'विठ्ठलनामाचा गजर', seeking the blessings of Vitthal and Rukmini. Then, tragedy struck.

Immediate Response and Medical Aid

Local police and emergency crews rushed to the scene immediately. The aftermath was heartbreaking. Ambulances shifted the injured pilgrims to nearby hospitals for urgent care. Doctors are treating them now. Also, authorities are closely monitoring the surviving Varkaris to ensure they get the necessary medical help.

• Always walk on the extreme left side of the road and follow the designated Palkhi routes.
• Avoid walking on the road during late night or early morning hours when visibility is extremely low.
• Dindi organizers must use reflective jackets, safety batons, and proper lighting to alert passing vehicles.
• Stay closely within your Dindi groups and follow the instructions given by the police bandobast at all times.

Police have registered a case against the truck driver. The investigation is underway. Detectives want to know exactly how the crash happened.
