Pandharpur Wari 2026: Pilgrimage Dates, Complete Route, and Schedule Guide

This concerns Akluj

Millions of devoted वारकरी are on the move again. It is a tradition spanning centuries. They walk toward Pandharpur to seek blessings from Lord Vitthal and Rukmini, the air echoing with विठ्ठलनामाचा गजर. Ashadhi Ekadashi hits on July 24, 2026. And the Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi from Alandi and the Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi from Dehu are making steady progress along their designated routes.

Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi Route

The Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi started in Alandi. The route is set. It winds through major towns and villages, offering tired walkers a place to rest for the night, known as a mukkam. Officials expect thousands at each stop. Key halts include:

  • Pune: Two days of rest and preparations before moving ahead.
  • Saswad: Reached via the challenging Dive Ghat.
  • Jejuri: The town of Khandoba.
  • Valhe, Lonand, and Taradgaon: Standard mukkams as the Palkhi enters Satara district.
  • Phaltan and Natepute: Progressing through Solapur district.
  • Malshiras, Velapur, and Bhandishegaon: The final stretches before reaching Wakhari.

Today is July 18, and the Palkhi is in Solapur district. Heavy crowds will likely gather at the Velapur halt to welcome the माऊली. Drink plenty of water. Also, medical camps are set up by the district administration for anyone feeling unwell.

Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi Route

The Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi originates from Dehu. It takes a slightly different road. Eventually, both processions meet up at Wakhari. The major mukkams are:

  • Akurdi and Pune: Initial city halts.
  • Loni Kalbhor and Yavat: Moving towards the rural stretches.
  • Baramati, Sansar, and Anthurne: The central phase of the journey.
  • Nimgaon Ketki, Indapur, and Akluj: Entering the final week of the march.
  • Bori Pardhi and Wakhari: The final congregation point.

Current Traffic and Travel Advisory

Both Palkhis are nearing Pandharpur. Traffic diversions are strict. The Pune-Pandharpur and Baramati routes are shut to heavy vehicles until July 25. Regular commuters must detour via the Solapur highway. Light rains have cooled the air. But sections of the walking path near Malshiras are muddy. Walk carefully. Always follow instructions from the police.

Are you travelling directly to Pandharpur for Ashadhi Ekadashi? Central Railway has added 54 special train trips. Book tickets early. Local transport options are already heavily strained.
