This concerns Akluj
The Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi and Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi are moving towards Pandharpur for Ashadhi Ekadashi. Pune rural police are busy. Officials expect extensive traffic regulations to remain in place. These curbs hit the Pune-Pandharpur and Baramati routes until July 15. The goal is simple. Keep the journey safe for the वारकरी community.
Traffic Diversions and Road Closures
Massive crowds of devotees are walking with the Dindis. You can hear the विठ्ठलनामाचा गजर everywhere. The primary palkhi marg is blocked. Police restricted vehicular movement. Commuters travelling between Pune, Baramati, and Pandharpur must use alternative routes.
- Pune to Pandharpur: Heavy vehicles and regular traffic moving from Pune to Pandharpur are diverted via the Indapur-Akluj route. The direct road through Saswad and Jejuri is closed during the Palkhi movement in those respective areas.
- Baramati Route: Traffic towards Baramati is being rerouted through Shirval and Nira. Vehicles will not be permitted on the main Baramati road while the Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi halts at Baramati.
- Phaltan Section: When the Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi enters the Phaltan region, vehicles will be diverted through Lonand-Khandala.
Information for Varkaris and Travellers
Local officials need your help. Everyone must cooperate with the traffic police and follow designated diversion signs. We need these measures to prevent gridlock. And we must ensure the Varkaris face zero obstacles on their path to seek the blessings of Lord Vitthal and Goddess Rukmini.
Emergency vehicles get a pass. Ambulances and fire brigades are completely exempt from these road curbs. Officials set up special parking zones. You will find them outside the main towns. They cater to devotees joining the Palkhi for just a day.
Plan your travel. Check local updates before you head out towards the Pune-Pandharpur highway. Do this over the next few days. माऊली!
