Live Updates: Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi Departs for Pune

This concerns Akurdi

The Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi has resumed its journey towards Pune today, July 30, 2026. It is moving steadily. The Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi is also leaving Alandi. Lakhs of वारकरी are marching with the Palkhis on the Dehu-Pandharpur and Alandi-Pandharpur routes. The air is filled with विठ्ठलनामाचा गजर.

Current Location and Next Halt (Mukkam)

Leaving Akurdi behind, the Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi is heading forward. Officials expect the procession to cross Chinchwad, Pimpri, and Kasarwadi before entering Pune city by late evening. The night halt (mukkam) is set at the Nivadungya Vithoba Mandir in Nana Peth. Meanwhile, माऊली Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Palkhi has left Gandhi Wada in Alandi. It crosses Dighi and Yerawada today. The planned night halt is the Palkhi Vithoba Mandir in Bhavani Peth.

Traffic Diversions in Pune

Pune traffic police have blocked off the old Pune-Mumbai highway. The road from Dehu Road to Wakdewadi is completely closed to vehicular traffic. Also, traffic must route through the Katraj-Dehu Road bypass. On the Alandi to Pune stretch, Alandi Road is fully closed from Dighi Magazine up to Yerawada. This ensures safe passage for the Dindis. Airport commuters should stick to Nagar Road or the Kharadi bypass. Traffic is already heavy near the Yerawada junction.

Weather and Medical Facilities

Rain is falling across parts of the route today. Authorities say वारकरी should keep plastic covers handy for their belongings. Continuous showers are expected. Emergency medical camps are open right now at Bopkhel Phata, Kasarwadi, and Sangamwadi. These units offer first aid and medicines for fever or foot injuries. Also, free drinking water tankers are parked at regular intervals by the Pune Municipal Corporation. Everyone must drink only from these official tankers. It prevents waterborne diseases.
