Anandana, The Coca-Cola India Foundation, is running the #MaidaanSaaf initiative for Pandharpur Wari 2026. The goal is simple. They want to manage the trash. And give lakhs of Varkaris a proper place to rest.
The foundation collects plastic waste along the Palkhi routes of Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Sant Tukaram Maharaj. It doesn't just go to a landfill. Through #MaidaanSaaf, this plastic is transformed into durable benches. You will find these recycled seats at major halts and in Pandharpur. They give tired Varkaris a spot to sit amidst the Vitthal namacha gajar.
Volunteers have set up recycling bins at key stops. Devotees simply drop in their empty bottles, and the processing begins. This keeps the roads clean. Also, it builds actual resting infrastructure for every Mauli walking the distance.
It solves two big problems for the annual Wari. Pilgrims get immediate sanitation and seating, and the massive waste is handled sustainably.
